Nicki Minaj, 32, is just praying that the charges against her brother, Jelani Maraj, 37, “will be proven false.” On the heels of claims that Jelani repeatedly raped a 12-year-old, a source EXCLUSIVELY revealed to HollywoodLife that Nicki is devastated by the whole situation, and is coping in the best way she can.“Nicki’s at a loss for words at her brother’s situation,” a source EXCLUSIVELY explained to HollywoodLife. “Her heart has dropped. She loves her brother terribly and is hoping these charges will be proven false.”
At the moment, beyond her prayers, there isn’t much Nicki can do, and she is just trying her very best to keep distracted and let the situation develop. “Other than that, Nicki’s trying to stay busy and not let her brother’s situation weigh too heavily on her,” added the source.
In case you missed it, news broke on Dec. 4 that Jelani had been charged with raping a 12-year-old girl on Long Island, NY. He was arraigned on Dec. 3 and was released from jail on a $100,000 bail.
Jelani had been charged with first-degree rape and first-degree course of sexual conduct with a child, according to Newsday. Specifically, the charges include the reported raping of a child, repeatedly, over the course of three months. The victim was someone whom Jelani reportedly “had access to,” according to the New York Daily News.
Jelani is due back in court on Dec. 9 to face the charges. He has not yet spoken out on the allegations against him.
