Justin Bieber is amazing. Not only did he perform a medley of hits during the finale of the Nov. 22 American Music Awards, but he also sang ‘Sorry’ while water poured down on him. It was super cool, however, he’s not the first singer to ever do that. See five others who have done the same!
Justin Bieber closed the American Music Awards on Nov. 22 in the most epic way possible — with a performance of “Sorry” under an indoor rainstorm. “Sorry” was part of a medley of hits Justin sang inside the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California, but watching him do what he does best while getting doused in what looked to be a waterfall was super cool. The performance may have even been inspired by other artists in the music industry.Justin’s performance at the AMAs was one we’ll never forget, but he’s not the first singer to sing a song in the rain. Rihanna actually performed her hit, “Diamonds,” in the rain while on a 2012 episode of The X Factor UK.
Furthermore, Justin’s frenemy Taylor Swift performed “Should’ve Said No” in the rain at the 2009 American Country Music Awards. And we can’t forget that epic Season 2 episode of Glee, when the cast, along with guest-star Gwyneth Paltrow, performed a mashup of “Singing In the Rain” with Rihanna’s “Umbrella.” And they, too, were singing in the rain.
Obviously, Justin wasn’t the first star to perform a song in the rain, and he certainly won’t be the last. But it’s an awesome effect and we love that the Biebs chose to do it during his finale performance at the American Music Awards.
