U2 Plan On Forcing Their New Album Consumers

  

If you had problem with U2’s latest album “Songs of Innocence”, you may find the band’s plan for its follow-up troublesome too. Despite numerous criticisms they received last year after making the record available for 500 million iTunes users, the group is considering to use the same marketing strategy for their next LP titled “Songs of Experience”.

U2’s The Edge made the revelation in a new interview with The Belfast Telegraph. “We haven’t figured it out yet, but our intention would be to get it out sometime in the back end of next year,” he said of when the project would likely arrive. He added, “I would not rule out doing something similar with the next record.”
“Songs of Innocence”, which features contributions from Danger Mouse, Paul Epworth and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder among others, was surprise-released through iTunes in September 2014. Millions of users who weren’t fans of U2 expressed their anger over Apple’s invasive marketing move.
Frontman Bono later apologized after a fan confronted him during a Q&A session on Facebook. “Oops. I’m sorry about that. I had this beautiful idea and we got carried away with ourselves. Artists are prone to that kind of thing,” he said. “Drop of megalomania, touch of generosity, dash of self-promotion, and deep fear that these songs that we poured our life into over the last few years mightn’t be heard. There’s a lot of noise out there. I guess we got a little noisy ourselves to get through it.”
