The Top 10 are here to play on Season 9 of ‘The Voice’! With only two episodes left until the finale, the remaining contestants left it all on the stage during the live Nov. 30 episode in hopes of advancing to the Top 9. Get the scoop on everything that went down here!
It’s going to be another tough decision for America this week after Monday night’s performances on The Voice. The ten finalists, three each from Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s teams and one from Pharrell’s team, held nothing back as they sang their hearts out for votes. Read our full recap right now!Blake’s country cutie Emily Ann Roberts took on country legend Patsy Cline by singing “She’s Got You,” and she continued to stay true to her roots by giving the whole performance a grassroots feel. Gosh, this girl is so stinkin’ cute, I can’t even deal with it! “I can’t stop smiling right now,” the 17-year-old’s coach gushed. “My heart is pounding right now, that was so good. I want people at home to know…I’ve never had a better collaborator in nine seasons of working on this show than Emily Ann.” Girl’s got talent, that’s for sure!
The youngest artist left in the competition, Braiden Sunshine, from Gwen’s team, was next to perform, and once again amazing us with his insane voice with a rendition of “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons. After showing off his old school side for most of the show, Braiden went for a more modern vibe in the Top 10, but still sounded mature beyond his years. “I want to remind everyone he is 15 years old,” Gwen raved. “I just think that every week you improve and you were so relaxed tonight and so punk and I’m so proud of you.”
Adam’s first singer of the night, Shelby Brown, took the stage next and things got super emotional when she sang “Go Rest High On That Mountain” by Vince Gill in honor of her late grandfather. For the first time in awhile, the country singer seemed truly connected to the song, and it totally strengthened her performance. “I think this was honestly your best performance,” Pharrell admitted. “It’s like you connected to the intention of the person who wrote that song.”
After having to sing for the Instant Save two weeks in a row, Korin Bukowski was back and ready to really give it her all and prove to America she deserves to be here. She put her own spin on Selena Gomez’s “Same Old Love,” once again showing off that soft and smooth voice we’ve grown to love, while also showing a little sass. “You are making me crazy right now,” coach Gwen gushed. “I can’t believe you just did that. Like you lifted! I didn’t expect that. I’m so proud of you!”
Amy Vachal did what she did best next: Made a popular song we all know completely her own. This week it was “Bye Bye BY” by *NSYNC like we’ve never heard it before! Her coach, Adam, made sure to explain to the viewers and audience how talented Amy is by being able to make songs that are already SO good sound just as good in a completely different way. “You should vote for this girl,” he advised.
Looking to inspire the audience once again, another one of Adam’s singers, Jordan Smith, belted out “Hallelujah” this week…and it was totally insane. Jordan has been a frontrunner since the very beginning — he has landed in the Top 10 on iTunes every week since the Lives began — and I have no doubt he’ll be right back up there on the charts once again with this one! As usual, the crowd went totally wild, and the coaches all raved. Nothing new…this guy is incredible.
After Gwen performed her new hit “Used To Love You,” it was back to the contestants as Blake’s heartthrob country singer Zach Seabaugh gave a modern rendition of “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” This gave him an opportunity to bring back his dance moves that the girls have been SWOONING over…and it definitely worked based on the audience’s reaction! Adam couldn’t even get a word in edgewise while trying to compliment Zach. Yup, it was that good!
Pharrell’s only singer left, Madi Davis, had to really step it up this week to keep her coach in this thing, and she totally delivered with her performance of Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” This was an especially special night because the song was one of the first Madi ever covered back when she was only 13, and she definitely proved she deserves to move on to the Top 9. Once again…I’m totally in awe that this gal is only 16. HOW?!
Closing things out was Blake’s third and final contestant, Barrett Baber, who “sang from the heart” while playing the guitar during his soulful version of “I Wanna Lay You Down” by Conway Twitty. Although he was worried it’d be risky to just sit on a stool and play/sing, Barrett made the right decision, really connecting with the audience more than he has in the live shows yet. One more will go home in tomorrow’s live results show, leaving only nine left in the Semifinals. Who will it be?!
