When Rita Ora and Calvin Harris broke up last year, their
split was barely out of the headlines - with Calvin banning the singer
from using songs that he had worked on with her on her second album and
preventing her from performing hit tracks live.
Now the X Factor
beauty has opened up with the devastation that came with their break up,
admitting that she was left feeling totally heartbroken. Speaking
to Wonderland magazine, Rita explained: “At the time … I just wanted to
crawl in my bed and die. But I got out of it the other side, I’m
surviving.
“I kind of saw the light at the end of the tunnel and I just wanted to change the vibe of the whole album.
“It was initially a really lovey-dovey album because that’s where I was, but then I obviously didn’t feel like that.”
There
has been a lot of speculation about why Rita and Calvin split, with the
DJ now involved in a high-profile relationship with US superstar Taylor
Swift, but 25-year-old Rits reckons it all went wrong when she released
a song that they had worked on together.
‘I Will Never Let You
Down’ was released in March 2014, and Calvin famously banned Rita from
performing at at the Teen Choice Awards over the summer, with Rita
adding: “There was a reason why I split up with him. “It was more of a thing
where I was in awe. I was at that point in my relationship where I felt
he could do no wrong.
“I thought he had my back and that he’d never steer me wrong. But then ‘I
Will Never Let You Down’ came out, and everything started to go a bit
weird.
“I don’t know if it was because business was mixed with personal or what.”
Despite
the messy and bitter break-up, there’s no denying that both Calvin and
Rita are doing a whole lot better eighteen months on from their split.
