Well if any of these actors every need someone to call, they have quite the squad to do so. The casts of the original and the new ‘Ghostbusters’ united June 8 on the ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ and it was beyond epic!

Talk about a celebration! In honor of Ghostbusters Day — AKA, the day the movie hit theaters 24 years ago (!), Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones joined forces with the OG busters, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts! Keep reading for what the original stars think of how their iconic film’s remake turned out.

Even original Ghostbusters theme singer Ray Parker Jr. was on hand with Jimmy Kimmel‘s band to make sure the night was complete. The OG Ghostbusters were the first to take the stage and chat as the audience went absolutely nuts.
As for how the new version turned out, “We’re really, really happy,” Dan enthused, praising the all-female comedy team and giving a huge thumbs up sign. “There are both men and women in this film,” Bill deadpanned as to criticism that the women might not be able to pull it off, noting he can “call them girls, because I am a boy.”
Then it was time for the ladies to come out and we got our big look at the OG and new Ghostbusters all in one place. Melissa admitted she was “slightly obsessed” with the original, seeing in many times in the theater as a teenager. But the most amazing moment was when Bill spoke his honest to goodness feelings on why he thought that of all the remakes brought to him and Dan over the years, this was the one to give the go-ahead to.
“It was only cause I knew these girls were funny. When you see the film, and you’ll delight in this film. It sort of rumbles along in the beginning and you’re going ‘Oh God, are they going to pull this thing off?’ There is no quit in these girls. This is a tough movie to pull off cause it’s a big concept, there’s a lot on the plate, there’s a lot of expectation and Danny, Annie, Earnie and I were just screaming, cheering like it was a sporting event.” Whoa! That’s some seriously high praise considering it was coming from one of the geniuses behind the OG Ghostbusters.
